Hi Everyone!

So yesterday was our first day of detox. Being the Chris and myself have never used supplements before made today even more interesting. The pills were rather easy to get down although they do have an interesting smell to them. After taxing the pills I noticed that I was starting to feel better then I had earlier in the day. We also tried the SP Complete Shake mix. We added some raspberries and also some strawberries as well as ice. That berries didn’t seem to mask the take of the SP Complete. Tomorrow I think I’m going to try some vegetables mixed into the shake, hopefully that will help the taste. Other then the shake the food intake hasn’t been an issue but I’m sure soon it will be. I am a serious sweets and carb fanatic so this will really be a struggle for me.

Hi!

As Kristin said, we started the program yesterday, and I think you'll need a little background on my current physical state. Aside from being overweight, which is something that I've lived with just about my entire adult life, I've been sick with a head cold for about a week. Also, Kristin and I went to my friends wedding the day before yesterday and I consumed, lets just say, way more than the recommended serving of vodka.

As Kristin mentioned, the pills have a bit of a taste but nothing that would make me want to stop taking them. And with all of the external factors that were bringing me down yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised that I felt a little better after taking everything. The taste of the protein shake is a different story. I tried to mix it with water only yesterday, and that really didn't work out. I got it down, but I knew that wouldn't work consistently. This morning we mixed it with some berries and it was much better, but still not a good tasting shake. Tonight, I'm going to try another recipe that's provided in the kit, I want to see how it will work out with some veggies. Something about it is making me think it will be much better that way, rather than trying to make it sweet.

I'm looking forward to what’s ahead, Dr. Jurica and I sat down about two months ago, and we spoke about what Kristin and should expect. As I said above, I've always dealt with being over weight. Don't get me wrong, I played football while I was in Junior College and then Rugby after that, I've spent a lot of time in the weight room, but I never really felt healthy and now that college life is over, and as I become more dedicate to my work my health has really taken a back seat. After that meeting I changed my diet just a little and I really felt a difference after just a couple of weeks. I'm very optimistic.

Hello everyone,
My name is Vergie and I am Dr. Scott's mom. I have done the detox twice and it really makes a difference in every aspect of your health. Giving up coffee was the most difficult part for me, but the results were well worth it. I lost weight and had more energy than I have ever had (and I am 66 years old).

I have been drinking a shake every morning for breakfast for over a year as I am recovering from thyroid cancer. (Kristin and Chris, my favorite recipe is adding frozen pineapple and frozen blueberries-it is quite delicious)! Between the shake and the other supplements that I am on (thanks, doc), I am now in perfect health. I exercise daily - walking briskly for 2 miles. My 6 month checkup included a biopsy which the doc said was suspicious, but the results were negative! I went back for a follow-up last week and he found nothing!!!! They don't even want to see me anymore.

So, all I can say is, "It works!"

It's me again!

So, I went a different way with the shake mix. Every other protein shake I've ever had was a health shake trying to taste like a milk shake. This shake is all grown up! Last night I mixed it with carrot juice and it was soooo much better. Today I used tomato juice and the taste became even more appealing!

I have to say that the first two days were much more difficult than these past two have been. My head cold is gone, and that might have a little to do with why the last couple of days have been easier, but either way as time goes by, I feel more and more confident in my decision to do this was the right direction toward a higher standard of living.

We have now completed our first week of the detox. I would have to say that the first couple days where the hardest but now I’m getting into a route and starting not to mind taking the supplements and the change in diet. This week I was introduced to Whole Foods as well. Being that Chris and I live in Brooklyn it can be hard at time to find organic foods. So this week I decided to make a trip to Whole Foods in Manhattan on my way home from work. They have a large variety of meats and seafood that are organic so Chris and I didn’t have to just eat chicken all week and the same boring vegetables. I have been getting creative with the meals because otherwise I think looking at a protein and a vegetable each night could get boring and make us want to stray from the detox. Also I think its very helpful to let friends know that you are doing it because it can be very tempting at times and the support of friends can really help.

Recipe: Chicken and Saugage Gumbo
1 pound sausage, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices

4 skinned bone-in chicken breasts

1 medium onion, chopped

1/2 green bell pepper, chopped

2 celery ribs, sliced

2 quarts hot water

3 garlic cloves, minced

2 bay leaves

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons Creole seasoning

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 to 1 teaspoon hot sauce

4 green onions, sliced

We left out a few ingredients but in all this is a great quick one-pot meal!

mmmmm... french toast mmmm....

Thank you for the shake advice, I tried it again with some blue burries and strawberries, but call me crazy, I've always liked the taste of V8. I found that they make organic V8 and it really has been working for me!

SO, I've been hitting my 'afternoon wall' a little harder than usual. Around 2pm, I feel like I could pass out at my desk, and then even at night, where I usually go to bed around 11, I've been going to sleep atleast an hour earlier. However, I've also been waking up in the moring a lot easier and have more energy in the AM.

“I love doing the Detox”. Wait let me rephrase that. “I love what the Detox does for ME.” I agree with Chris and Kristin, it is hard the first couple of days. It can be hard the first wk. You are more tried by the end of the day but also wide awake in the morning, even without coffee. Your body is detoxing everything you do to it from the air pollution, stress, to processed foods. Especially living in a large city, wow the opportunities we have to beat up our body. The hardest part of the detox for me is taking out the wine. I enjoy coming home and having that glass (two).

I started my first detox when I lived in Texas. I was having female issues and the detox was recommended by Dr. Jurica to help jumpstart my body to a new healthier direction.
I lost close to 10 pounds in the 3wks, had no cramps, in fact I had no idea I was about to start because I had no symptoms. For those who know and love me, this was GREAT and pretty unbelievable. Now, I do a 3wk detox once a yr and then a wk detox every six months to maintain my health.

Now regarding the shake, never tried it so I can not comment. What I can comment on is the food you get to eat. So simple you still get to eat meats, veggies, and some fruits. (Really important that they are organic especially the meat). I love my Taco Salad;

1 pound of ground organic meat of choice. (turkey, chicken, beef)
1 head of lettuce
2 large tomatoes
2 jalapenos (depends on how spicy you like it)
2 avocadoes
2 bell peppers (I do one yellow and one red)
1 red onion
Cilantro (optional-in case you don’t like it)
1 lime
Garlic
Organic olive oil

Sauté in olive oil, meat, 1 jalapeno, garlic clove, salt and pepper.
Slice and sauté onions and bell peppers in long strips. (fajita style)
Chop tomatoes, avocadoes and lettuce (toss)
Blend cilantro, lime, jalapeno, garlic clove and organic olive oil in blender for dressing.
Top salad with bell peppers, onions and meat. Toss in dressing.

YUMMY!!!

Good luck you two. Sounds like you are already enjoying it and starting to see the benefits. I am excited to see how you feel when the 3 wks is up.

Hi! Wow. So you might remember that at first I didn't much care for the taste of the supplements. Then very quickly I got used to it, and it wasn't unpleasant anymore. NOW, out of nowhere I realize that I am looking forward to taking everything. Almost as if I am craving the good feeling of treating my body right, so much so that it tastes good.

SIDE EFFECT: Kristin and I are planning and preparing, breakfast and lunch for the week on Sundays. Before we started, I'd either skip breakfast or get charged off of empty carbs and coffee long enough to make it to lunch. By lunch I'm so hungry I would be willing to eat something call Street-Meat. If you don't know what street-meat is, all you need to know is that it IS as bad as it sounds.

The food is simple, easy to prepare and the taste is out of this world.

Well... it's 9:40pm right now, and I'm pooped! Ready for bed, and excited to know I'm about to get a good nights sleep and wake up with the energy to run with tomorrow.

The detox is going really well. This past week I noticed that I was getting very emotional. Someone would say something to me and I would just feel like I was going to bust out into tears. I was a little concerned about this but I spoke with Dr. Scott this week and he said that this is normal. Yesterday and today I haven’t felt as emotional as I did over the weekend which is great. I have noticed that I don’t feel bloated any more. I don’t think that Chris and I have lost any weight but I defiantly feel better in general.

I found a little trick for when I am having a sweet tooth attack…I will take a couple of strawberries and cut them up and then I’ll take a little Sweetleaf, sweetener and sprinkle it on the strawberries and then top off with a splash of half and half. Its great for a little snack!

Hi all
I'm on day 9 of the cleanse. I'm sort of in shock about how much change has taken place. And I decided to do the cleanse before quitting smoking rather than wait for life to be 'perfect' to cleanse. Of course I don't advocate smoking or caffeine or anything, but don't wait for the perfect moment to start the cleanse! I've never really been on a diet before but have tried dairy and wheat-free living at various stages. What happened on this cleanse is entirely different.

First off, It's been very easy. I'm surprised that I don't have killer cravings and blood sugar drops. I'm the type of gal who has to eat NOW or all hell breaks loose. I keep an apple with me and I'm fine and often find the emergency snack still in my bag at the end of the day.

Second, I'm amazed at the balance of energy I have throughout the day. I've never experienced this before. It seems counterintuitive that by lessening my overall intake I have more energy -- I walk taller. I haven't spaced out this entire time so far. I'm also observing that wIth this energy, if a negative emotion comes up, it doesn't last long -- I'm not weighted down. It just kind of swoops through it's course and is released. It's utterly wild.

Third, I wake up fine. No more stiffness. No more spacy-ness.

Fourth, and this is truly amazing, I had the menstrual cycle of a teenager. I had been needing at least a day in bed, HEAVY pain killers and had lots of flooding, with a history of anemia. I had very slight cramping and needed not even an aspirin. My cycle was light.

Now, I'm not a MacDonald's and Yodels person. I've known that 'we are what we eat'. I ate well and organically most of the time. But I see now that all of the 'healthy' snacks I've 'nibbled' on every day for years must have added up to a poor diet for my body. Because in removing suspect foods from my diet, my life has truly changed. And my next step is to quit smoking, which I believe will be easier midway with this regimen because of this profound shift in energy and positive sensations in my body. Many of us only pay attention to our bodies when there's an ache or pain, and I'm just getting used to a better overall feeling of health -- it's still so strange. Oh sure, there's been a little cheating -- a glass of wine, or a chocolate square, but I'm not experiencing the day-to-day gnawing of 'fulfillment' my foods had appeared to provide for me. With this kind of equilibrium, if a temptation arises, I wait a little while and it passes.

Also, the cleanse has taken on a life of it's own in my outer surroundings. I have the emotional energy to purge stuff from my apartment.

Thanks, Dr. Scott, for all of your encouragement.
